This guide explains the Mamata Yojana Odisha govt scheme as it stands today, using the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department’s own pages and FAQs. It was last checked on 13 October 2026.

What Is Mamata Yojana?

Mamata is a conditional cash transfer scheme. The word “conditional” matters. The money is not handed over in one go. It is released in stages, and each stage depends on the mother completing certain health steps such as check-ups, vaccinations and counselling.

The Odisha government started it in 2011 to tackle undernutrition in mothers and infants. According to the WCD Department, it gives partial wage compensation so a woman can rest properly during pregnancy and after delivery. It also pushes families toward antenatal care, immunisation and exclusive breastfeeding.

The Biggest Change: Mamata Is Now Mamata-PMMVY

In May 2025 the Odisha Cabinet approved running Mamata together with the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. The joint scheme is called MAMATA-PMMVY and applies from 1 April 2025.

What this means for you in practice:

  • A girl child now brings ₹12,000. Earlier, Mamata paid ₹10,000 whatever the baby’s gender. The extra ₹2,000 applies to girls only.
  • A boy child still brings ₹10,000.
  • PMMVY’s eligibility rules apply. Odisha’s cabinet decision states that the central scheme’s criteria also govern the joint scheme.
  • There is a dedicated portal for registration and applications.

Many websites still show ₹5,000 or the old ₹3,000 and ₹2,000 split. Those figures belong to the period before February 2024, when the state first doubled the benefit. Do not rely on them.

Mamata Yojana Amount: Old vs New

PeriodBoyGirl
Before February 2024₹5,000₹5,000
After the 2024 increase₹10,000₹10,000
From 1 April 2025 (MAMATA-PMMVY)₹10,000₹12,000

How the Money Is Paid

The payment is made straight into the mother’s bank account. Under the earlier Mamata rules, the total of ₹10,000 came in two parts, ₹6,000 during the third trimester and ₹4,000 after the child turned ten months old, provided the conditions were met.

One honest note here. The WCD FAQ confirms that the integrated scheme pays in instalments linked to conditions, and that girls receive an additional ₹2,000. I could not find an official line that spells out exactly how the girl’s extra ₹2,000 is split between instalments. Ask your Anganwadi Worker or CDPO office for the current schedule before you plan around a specific date.

Conditions for the first instalment

The WCD Mamata page lists these checks:

  1. Pregnancy registered at the Anganwadi Centre
  2. At least two antenatal check-ups
  3. Iron and folic acid (IFA) tablets received
  4. At least one TT vaccination
  5. At least one counselling session at the Anganwadi, on Village Health and Nutrition Day, or during a home visit

The updated FAQ adds a timing rule. To claim the first instalment, you need to register the pregnancy and complete at least one antenatal check-up within four months from the date of your last menstrual period.

Conditions for the second instalment

After delivery, the official list covers:

  • Birth registered at the Anganwadi Centre or Health Sub Centre
  • BCG, Pentavalent 1, 2 and 3, Polio 1, 2 and 3 and Rotavirus 1, 2 and 3 vaccinations
  • Measles vaccine and the first dose of Vitamin A before the child turns one
  • At least six growth monitoring and infant feeding counselling sessions for the mother
  • Exclusive breastfeeding for six months, then age-appropriate complementary feeding

Keep the Mother and Child Protection (MCP) card safe. Most of these checks are verified through it.

Who Is Eligible?

Because the PMMVY criteria now apply, a woman needs to fall into at least one of the recognised categories. The Odisha FAQ names ration card holders, women covered under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY, e-Shram card holders and MGNREGA job card holders. The central PMMVY pages also list women from SC and ST communities, women with 40 percent or more disability, and women whose family income is below ₹8 lakh a year.

Other points from the official material:

  • Two children. The benefit covers the first two live births.
  • Tribal exception. For women from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, the two-child limit does not apply. They receive the benefit for every live birth.
  • Aadhaar is compulsory. The FAQ states this clearly, and eligibility is checked through Aadhaar and supporting records.
  • Government employees. Under the original Mamata rules, regular Central and State government or PSU employees and their wives were excluded. PMMVY also leaves out women who already get similar maternity benefits through regular government jobs.
  • Age. The older Mamata guidelines set the minimum age at 19. Check the current FAQ if you are close to that limit, since the integrated scheme follows PMMVY’s framework.

Documents You Will Need

Bring these when you meet your Anganwadi Worker:

  • Duly filled MCP card (mandatory)
  • Aadhaar card (mandatory)
  • Proof of eligibility, such as a ration card, PMJAY card, e-Shram card or MGNREGA job card
  • Aadhaar-seeded bank account details
  • Active mobile number

If you also hold a disability certificate or an income certificate, carry it. It can serve as your eligibility proof.

How to Register for Mamata Yojana

The WCD Department describes the process around the Anganwadi system. Here is a simple route to follow.

  1. Meet your Anganwadi Worker early. Get the pregnancy registered at your Anganwadi Centre or mini Anganwadi Centre and make sure you receive an MCP card.
  2. Complete your first check-up. Do this within the four-month window from your last menstrual period.
  3. Share your documents. Give your Aadhaar, MCP card details, bank details and eligibility proof to the Anganwadi Worker.
  4. Let the CDPO verify and approve. The Child Development Project Officer checks the details and approves eligible beneficiaries.
  5. Use the portal or app if you prefer. The department runs a dedicated portal at mamata-pmmvy.odisha.gov.in, and the revised guidelines also allow a pregnant woman to register herself through the Mamata mobile app.
  6. Keep completing the health steps. Attend check-ups, vaccinations and counselling sessions, and make sure each one is noted on the MCP card.

Registration is meant to be free. Nobody at the Anganwadi or on a portal should ask you for money.

Common Mistakes That Delay Payment

These are the problems women run into most often.

  • Registering late. Missing the early window can hold up the first instalment.
  • Incomplete MCP card. If a vaccination or check-up is done but not recorded, the system cannot verify it.
  • Bank account issues. The account should be linked to Aadhaar and able to receive government transfers.
  • Name mismatch. The name on your Aadhaar, bank passbook and application should match.
  • Skipping counselling sessions. These are conditions too, not optional extras.

Mamata vs Subhadra: Can You Get Both?

Many women ask this, so here is the difference in design. Mamata is tied to a pregnancy and paid in conditional stages for each eligible birth. Subhadra Yojana is a separate women’s scheme paying ₹10,000 a year over five years to eligible women aged 21 to 60.

Subhadra has an exclusion for households already receiving ₹1,500 or more per month from another government financial scheme. Mamata is a one-time conditional payment per birth rather than a monthly allowance, but I did not find an official statement that settles overlap between the two. If your case is unusual, ask the Anganwadi Worker or the helpline before assuming either way.

If you already follow Subhadra payments, our guides on the Subhadra 5th installment, the Subhadra face e-KYC process, checking your application on the Subhadra portal and Odisha Pashupalan Yojana 2026: Cow, Goat & Poultry Subsidy Details will help. Helpline and Official Links

The WCD FAQ lists the PMMVY helpline as 14408. For anything about your own case, the Anganwadi Worker and the CDPO office of your block remain the most direct contacts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much money does Mamata Yojana give in 2026?

A mother receives ₹10,000 for a boy and ₹12,000 for a girl under the MAMATA-PMMVY scheme, according to the official portal.

Is Mamata Yojana the same as PMMVY?

Not exactly. Odisha merged its own Mamata scheme with the central PMMVY from 1 April 2025 and co-branded it as MAMATA-PMMVY. The benefits and rules now work together.

For how many children can I claim?

For the first two live births. Women from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups can claim for every live birth.

Is Aadhaar mandatory?

Yes. The official FAQ states that an Aadhaar card is required for registration.

Can I register myself, or must I go through the Anganwadi?

You can start at the Anganwadi Centre, and a dedicated portal and a mobile app also exist for registration. Even when you apply digitally, the Anganwadi Worker and the CDPO play a role in verification.

When should I register?

As early as possible. The FAQ ties the first instalment to registering the pregnancy and completing at least one antenatal check-up within four months from your last menstrual period.

What if my baby is born before I finish all the vaccinations?

The second instalment depends on the child’s immunisation and the other listed conditions, so the payment waits until they are completed and recorded on the MCP card.

Does a government job affect eligibility?

Under the original Mamata guidelines, regular Central and State government and PSU employees and their wives were excluded. PMMVY also excludes women who already get comparable maternity benefits through regular government employment.

Is this website the official Mamata portal?

No. This is an independent information website. For applications and final decisions, use the Odisha government’s portal and your local Anganwadi Centre.

Where do I get more help?

Call the helpline given in the FAQ, speak to your Anganwadi Worker, or visit the CDPO office in your block.

Final Word

Mamata Yojana did not disappear. It grew into MAMATA-PMMVY with a higher payment for a girl child and a clearer link to the central scheme. The surest way to receive every instalment is simple: register early, keep the MCP card updated, and finish each health step on time.
