OPSC AEE Civil Exam 2026 Date Revised: Prelims Now on 29 November
The OPSC AEE Civil Exam 2026 date has been revised. The Odisha Public Service Commission has moved the Preliminary Examination for Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) from 8 November 2026 to 29 November 2026 (Sunday). The change comes through the 1st Corrigendum dated 5 October 2026 under Advertisement No. 07 of 2026-27, and it is listed on the OPSC website.
That is a three week shift. If you have already applied, nothing else about your application changes. You simply have more time, and you should use it well.

Why Was the OPSC AEE Civil Exam Date Changed?
The reason is a clash of schedules. OPSC is holding the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Main Written Examination 2025, under Advertisement No. 05 of 2025-26, from 29 October to 7 November 2026. The AEE Civil prelims was sitting right on top of that window on 8 November, so the Commission pushed it back by three weeks.
Two things worth clearing up, because a lot of Telegram and WhatsApp posts get this wrong:
- The recruitment is not cancelled.
- The vacancy count, eligibility and syllabus have not been touched. Only the exam date has moved.
Revised Timeline
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Advertisement released | 4 August 2026 |
| Online applications opened | 11 August 2026 |
| Last date to apply | 11 September 2026, 5:00 PM |
| Corrigendum issued | 5 October 2026 |
| Old prelims date | 8 November 2026 |
| Revised prelims date | 29 November 2026 (Sunday) |
| Admission certificate | Not released as of 15 October 2026 |
| Mains and interview | To be notified |
Anywhere the original advertisement says 8 November, read it as 29 November. That applies to both the short advertisement and the long advertisement.
What the Revised Date Means for You
As of 15 October 2026, you have about 45 days. Here is how to think about it.
- Do not relax. Those three extra weeks are the same for every applicant. The people who use them properly will pull ahead.
- Keep your documents ready. Admission certificate, photo ID and the ID proof you used in the application should be sorted well before the last week.
- Ignore forwarded screenshots. Plan only around what OPSC itself has published.
- Watch for another change. OPSC has said candidates should rely on official notices. If the Commission issues another corrigendum, that one overrides everything you read elsewhere, including this page.
OPSC AEE Civil Recruitment 2026 at a Glance
Many candidates searching for the new exam date also want to double check the basics. Here they are.

| UR | 24 | 8 |
| SEBC | 5 | 2 |
| SC | 7 | 2 |
| ST | 10 | 3 |
| Total | 46 | 15 |
Two posts are earmarked for candidates with 40% or more permanent disability, adjusted against the respective categories.
Qualification
A degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university or institution, or AMIE (Civil) from the Institution of Engineers (India). Candidates must also be able to read, write and speak Odia. Final year students could not apply unless they held the degree before the last date of application.

| SC / ST / SEBC / Women / Ex-Servicemen | 21 years | 47 years |
| PwD (40% or more) | 21 years | 52 years |
Be careful here. Some websites quote a maximum age of 38 for this post. That figure does not match the advertisement details we cross-checked. Always verify your own date of birth against the official advertisement.

Application Fee
₹700 for UR and SEBC candidates. SC, ST and PwD candidates paid nothing. The application window is closed, so no fresh applications are being taken for this advertisement.
OPSC AEE Civil Exam Pattern 2026
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Subject | Civil Engineering |
| Questions | 100 objective type |
| Total marks | 100 |
| Duration | 1 hour 30 minutes |
| Negative marking | 25% of the question’s marks for each wrong answer |
| Nature | Screening only |
The prelims marks are not added to your final merit. They only decide whether you reach the Mains.
Stage 2: Main Examination (500 marks)
| Paper | Subject | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | General Studies | 100 | 200 | 2 hours |
| Paper II | Civil Engineering | 150 | 300 | 2 hours 30 minutes |
Stage 3: Interview
The personality test carries 50 marks. Final merit is built from Mains plus Interview, so out of 550 marks.
One practical point. With 25% negative marking, four wrong answers wipe out one right answer. Guessing blindly in a screening round is a bad habit. Attempt what you know, and be selective with the rest.
OPSC AEE Civil Prelims Syllabus: What to Cover
The prelims is a pure Civil Engineering paper at degree level. The main areas candidates should be solid on:
- Engineering Mechanics and Solid Mechanics
- Structural Analysis
- Concrete Structures (RCC) and Steel Structures
- Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering
- Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics
- Irrigation Engineering
- Transportation Engineering
- Surveying
- Environmental Engineering and Construction Management (check these against the official list)
This list is a summary. The binding version is the syllabus on the OPSC website, so open the official OPSC Examination Syllabus page and tick off topics against it.
How to Download the OPSC AEE Civil Admit Card
OPSC calls it the Admission Certificate. As of 15 October 2026, the What’s New list on the OPSC homepage does not show an admission certificate notice for this exam, so there is nothing to download yet.
When it is released, the steps are simple:
- Go to the official OPSC website.
- Open Candidate’s Corner and click Download Admission Certificate (https://www.opsc.gov.in/Public/Pages/View_Content.aspx?id=VO/uz97buK3DBoFIVkTEOw==).
- Choose the Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil), Advertisement No. 07 of 2026-27 link.
- Log in with your credentials and download the certificate.
- Print it clearly. Check your name, photo, roll number, centre and reporting time. If anything is wrong, contact OPSC right away.
Do not pay anyone for an “early” admit card. There is no such thing.
Exam Centres
The advertisement offered these centres: Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Jeypore. Your final centre is the one printed on your admission certificate, nothing else. Visit the centre location a day before if you can, especially if you are travelling from outside the city.
How Many Candidates Are in the Race?
According to reporting based on the category-wise break-up notice, OPSC received 7,594 applications for this post, including 2,572 from women, and 7,588 candidates were provisionally admitted after six applications were cancelled by the applicants themselves. For 46 posts, that works out to roughly 165 candidates per vacancy at the prelims stage. Provisional admission is not final eligibility, and document checks come later.
You can view the category-wise break-up notice dated 5 October 2026 on the OPSC homepage under What’s New.

A 45 Day Plan to Use the Extra Time
This is a suggested plan. Adjust it to your own weak areas.
Week 1 (strengthen the base): Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials and Structural Analysis. Solve numericals daily, not just theory.
Week 2 (design subjects): RCC and Steel. Revise IS code provisions and design philosophies. Make a one page formula sheet.
Week 3 (geotech and water): Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics.
Week 4 (the rest): Irrigation, Transportation, Surveying, Environmental Engineering, Estimating and Construction Management.
Week 5 (test mode): Two full length 100 question mocks, each timed at 90 minutes. After each one, spend as long reviewing as you spent writing.
Week 6 (polish): Revise your short notes, redo wrong questions, and stop starting new topics. Sleep properly the last two nights.
Also start brushing up on General Studies for the Mains. The prelims will not test it, but the Mains will, and it carries 200 marks.
Do Not Confuse This with the Other OPSC AEE Notification
OPSC also published a separate advertisement, Advertisement No. 13 of 2026-27, for Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil and Mechanical) on 9 October 2026. It is a different recruitment with a different process, and it is not affected by this corrigendum. If you want the details of that one, read our separate guide on the OPSC AEE recruitment through GATE scores.
This article is only about the Advertisement No. 07 of 2026-27 prelims, now on 29 November.

OPSC itself warns that any assurance of selection from outsiders should be ignored and reported. If someone offers you a seat for money, it is a scam.
