The wait is over. The date of the fifth installment has been announced for the deserving women of Odisha. Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Prabhu Pradhan has announced the final date for Monday. Over one crore beneficiary women in the state will be given the fifth installment of Rs 5,000 under the Subhadra Yojana on August 28. This amount will be released from Nayagarh district on the occasion of the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Women who were waiting for the fifth installment will now not have to wait much longer,
This was stated by Parida, in-charge of Women and Child Welfare Department, while talking to reporters during a five-day training workshop organized for the second batch of newly appointed Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members. She further informed that new eligible applicants. Who could not join the scheme till now will also be provided all the five installments together on August 28.

Background of the Scheme
The Subhadra Yojana scheme was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhubaneswar on September 17, 2024. The main objective of the scheme is to financially empower eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60 who are unable to meet their basic needs. Under this, from the financial year 2024-25 to 2028-29, i.e. during the five years, a total of Rs 50,000 will be given to each beneficiary woman so that she can manage her household expenses properly.
This amount is given twice a year, each installment is of Rs 5,000. Thus, a total of Rs 10,000 is given every year to those eligible and deserving women. Who cannot manage their livelihood properly. The first installment of this scheme is released on the occasion of Women’s Day in March. While the second installment is released on the day of Raksha Bandhan.
Emphasis on child welfare too
Speaking at the training program, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to providing a safe and conducive environment to every child. He said that all the relevant institutions and individuals will have to work together. And with compassion to ensure the rights, dignity and welfare of children.
Parida instructed the new CWC members to discharge their duties with sensitivity, sincerity. And dedication, and to keep the “best interest of the child” as the central consideration in every decision or action.
On this occasion, she also directly interacted with the newly-inducted members. And listened to the issues related to children at the ground level, the difficulties faced and their experiences.
It is to be noted that a total of 58 Child Welfare Committee members from 27 districts of the state are participating in this training program and receiving training.
