OUAT Professor & ADR Recruitment 2026: 52 Posts, Eligibility, Salary and Offline Application Steps
Read in another language:
Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, has advertised 52 senior faculty posts: 47 Professors and 5 Associate Directors of Research (ADR). The advertisement is dated 25 September 2026, and there is no online form. Your printed application has to physically reach the Registrar’s office by 5:00 PM on 28 October 2026. Today is 12 October, so about 16 days are left, and most of that time should go into building your score card, not into the post office queue.
This guide covers the full vacancy list by discipline and category, eligibility for each post, the Level 14 salary, how the 100 mark API score card works, the fee, and the mistakes that get forms rejected. Everything below is based on the OUAT advertisement (No. E-II-II-08/2026/15535/UAT). Where job portals disagree with each other, we point it out in the section called “Details that confuse applicants.”

Who Should Apply (and Who Should Not)
This is not an entry level faculty drive. It is meant for serving Associate Professors and senior scientists who already have a long record in teaching, research or extension.
You are a realistic candidate if you have a Master’s and a PhD in the same subject as the post, at least 10 years of experience (PhD years excluded), and at least 2 of those years as Associate Professor at 7th CPC Level 13A or equivalent.
You should skip this one if your PhD is in a neighbouring subject, if your Associate Professor years are short, or if you cannot get your experience certificates and API claims certified before the closing date. The university says experience claimed without documents counts for nothing.
Important Dates
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Advertisement date | 25 September 2026 |
| Last date for receipt of application | 28 October 2026, 5:00 PM |
| Date for counting qualification and experience | 28 October 2026 |
| Interview date | Not announced yet |
28 October 2026 falls on a Wednesday. Since the deadline counts receipt, a form posted on the 26th is already a gamble.
OUAT Professor Vacancy 2026
Of the 52 posts, 26 are unreserved (UR), 12 are for ST, 8 for SC and 6 for SEBC. Eighteen posts are marked for women and two for persons with disability (PwD). A PwD candidate needs a permanent disability of at least 40%. One of the UR Associate Director of Research posts is reserved for a sportsperson.
Men can also apply for seats marked for women. If no suitable woman of that category is found, the post goes to a man of the same category. OUAT also keeps the right to increase or decrease the number of posts at the time of interview.

How to read this table before you apply: find your discipline first, then your category. Entomology has a single seat and it is for ST candidates, so a UR or SEBC candidate in that subject has no advertised seat. Soil Science and Aquaculture have three seats each, which gives more room. This is a practical check many applicants skip.
OUAT Professor Eligibility 2026
Professor (Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary, Agricultural Engineering, Basic Science, Community Science)
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Science, Forestry, Agricultural Engineering, Basic Science or Community Science, at least second class with 55% marks or equivalent OGPA.
- Master’s degree in the concerned subject, at least second class with 55% or equivalent OGPA.
- PhD in the concerned subject.
- Minimum 10 years of teaching, research or extension experience, not below Assistant Professor or equivalent, counted after leaving out PhD study time.
- At least 2 of those 10 years must be as Associate Professor or equivalent in 7th CPC Level 13A (pre-revised Pay Band 4, ₹37,400 to ₹67,000 with AGP ₹9,000), in a government university or a reputed accredited university.
OUAT’s own example makes the subject rule clear: a Professor of Agronomy must hold an M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agronomy and a PhD in Agronomy.
Professor (Fishery Science)
The rules are the same, with two changes. The Bachelor’s degree must be in Fishery Science (B.F.Sc.), and the Master’s degree must be one of the degrees OUAT accepts for that discipline.
| Fishery Discipline | Accepted Master’s Degrees |
|---|---|
| Aquaculture | Aquaculture, Fish Nutrition and Physiology, Fish Genetics and Biotechnology, Fish Nutrition and Biochemistry, Fish Nutrition and Feed Technology, Physiology and Biochemistry, Fish Genetics, Fish Genetics and Breeding, Fish Biotechnology |
| Fisheries Resource Management | Fisheries Resource Management |
| Fish Processing Technology | Fish Processing Technology, Post Harvest Technology, Fish Quality Assurance and Management, Post Harvest Engineering and Technology, Processing and Food Engineering |
| Aquatic Environment Management | Aquatic Environment Management, Fishery Environment Management |
| Fishery Engineering | Fisheries Engineering, Fisheries Engineering and Technology, Fishing Technology and Engineering |
| Aquatic Animal Health Management | Aquatic Animal Health Management, Aquatic Animal and Health, Fish Pathology and Microbiology, Fish Health Management |
| Fishery Extension, Economics and Statistics | Fisheries Extension, Economics and Statistics; Fisheries Extension; Fisheries Economics |
Associate Director of Research (ADR)
This post is wider than Professor in one way. You do not need the same subject as the vacancy, because ADR is not tied to one discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, at least second class with 55% or equivalent OGPA.
- Master’s degree in any subject of Agricultural Science with at least 55%.
- PhD in any subject of Agricultural Science.
- The same 10 year experience rule, including 2 years as Associate Professor or equivalent at Level 13A.
Professor vs ADR: Quick Comparison
| Point | Professor | Associate Director of Research |
|---|---|---|
| Posts | 47 | 5 |
| Subject match | Master’s and PhD in the same subject as the post | Any subject of Agricultural Science |
| Bachelor’s degree | Depends on faculty | Agriculture only |
| Experience | 10 years including 2 as Associate Professor | Same |
| Pay | Level 14, Cell 1 | Level 14, Cell 1 |
| 5% marks relaxation for SC, ST, PwD | Written in the Professor sheets | Not written in the ADR sheet, so confirm with OUAT |
Other Eligibility Points
- Relaxation: SC, ST and PwD candidates get a 5% relaxation in marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s level.
- Assistant Professor equivalence: the notice treats anyone who has drawn AGP ₹6,000 (pre-revised) or 7th CPC Level 10 as equivalent to Assistant Professor.
- Cut-off date: qualification and experience are counted as on the last date of submission.
- NET: UGC or ICAR NET is not listed as an essential qualification. The form has a row for it, so fill it in if you have cleared it.
- Age limit: the advertisement does not print a minimum or maximum age. It only states that the retirement age for these posts is 60 years. Attach proof of age anyway.
OUAT Professor Salary 2026
Both posts are placed at Cell 1 of Level 14 in the 7th Pay Commission matrix. That is ₹1,44,200 per month as basic pay, with dearness allowance and other allowances as admissible. The notice gives only this entry figure, so any “in-hand salary” number you see elsewhere is an estimate. HRA and DA change with the city and the current rate.
OUAT Professor Selection Process 2026
There is no written test. Selection runs on an API (Academic Performance Indicator) score card out of 100, followed by interview.
| Component | Marks |
|---|---|
| Academic qualification (UG 6, PG 4) | 10 |
| Experience beyond the 10 year minimum | 5 |
| Teaching, research and extension | 25 |
| Publications (20) and technologies (10) | 30 |
| Competitive research projects handled | 5 |
| Recognition | 5 |
| Interview | 20 |
| Total | 100 |
How the Marks Are Counted
- Academics: UG gives 6 marks at 75% or above and 4 below that. PG gives 4 marks at 75% or above and 2 below that.
- Experience: each year beyond the first 10 earns 1 mark, up to 5.
- Publications: only your 15 best peer reviewed papers count, scored by NAAS journal rating. A rating from 4 up to 6 earns 0.5 mark, from 6 up to 8 earns 1 mark, and 8 or above earns 1.5 marks. First or corresponding authors get full credit, and co-authors get 75%.
- No double claiming: the same work cannot be claimed twice on the score card.
What Happens After You Apply
- OUAT scores every application using the API score card.
- Candidates are called for interview in a 1:4 ratio, category wise, based on that score.
- The interview is followed by document verification at Bhubaneswar. You travel at your own cost.
- You need at least 50% of the total marks to qualify.
The point most people miss: the interview carries only 20 marks, so 80 marks are decided on paper before you meet the panel. A strong record with sloppy documentation can miss the 1:4 shortlist. Number your pages, give each claim a page reference, and keep your publication list clean.

Why OUAT Applications Get Rejected
| Problem | What the notice says |
|---|---|
| Late receipt | Applications received after 5:00 PM on 28 October 2026 will not be entertained |
| Postal delay | OUAT is not responsible for any loss or delay in the post |
| Incomplete or unsigned form | Rejected without correspondence |
| Missing proof | Experience or qualification without supporting documents is treated as incomplete |
| Wrong fee payment | No fee proof, or payment by a mode other than the ones listed, means rejection |
| Several forms for one post | A cause for rejection |
| One form for several posts | Not allowed, one form and one fee per post |
| Missing NOC for in-service candidates | Candidature not considered |
| False information | Disqualification, and termination later if found during service |
| Canvassing | Disqualification |
OUAT can also cancel the interview or the whole process, or leave posts unfilled, without giving reasons.
Details That Confuse Applicants
Several job portals have published different details for this recruitment. Here is how they line up against the advertisement.
| Claim you may see | What the advertisement says |
|---|---|
| “Apply online” or “online and offline” | Offline only. The form is in the notification PDF |
| “₹750 fee for reserved categories” | ₹1,500 for all candidates |
| “Maximum age 60 years” | No age limit is printed. 60 is the retirement age for these posts |
| Salary as a range up to ₹2,18,200 | Only the entry figure is given: Cell 1, Level 14, ₹1,44,200 |
| A different advertisement number | The number printed in the advertisement is E-II-II-08/2026/15535/UAT |
There is also one genuine inconsistency inside the notice itself. One page asks for a signed photocopy of the fee receipt, while the instruction sheet and the form ask for the original counterfoil. The safest approach is to attach the signed original counterfoil and keep a photocopy for yourself. If you are unsure, ask the university before posting.
A 16 Day Plan to Get Your Application Ready

| 15 to 18 October | Pay the fee. Collect experience certificates and request certification for items 3A, 3B, 3C and 4B |
