What Is Interest Subvention for SHGs?

Under Mission Shakti, women self-help groups take bank loans for livelihood activities and small enterprises. The interest subvention scheme brings down the effective interest cost on these loans — the government pays back a part of the interest to the SHGs, so borrowing stays affordable. Combined with the revolving fund and community investment fund, SHG members get working capital plus cheaper credit to run and expand their businesses.

Two New MoUs Signed

At the same programme, the Mission Shakti department signed two memoranda of understanding:

  1. With the Collective for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives — to expand the Lakhpati Didi initiative, which aims to make women earn at least Rs 1 lakh a year.;
  2. With the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) — to promote green entrepreneurship among women SHGs.

What the Deputy CM Said

Pravati Parida said the government is focusing on strengthening the financial and institutional capacity of SHGs and their federations, so that more livelihood opportunities open up and women-led enterprises grow. She added that women are not merely beneficiaries of development but are emerging as drivers of Odisha’s economic and social transformation, expressing confidence that Nari Shakti will lead the state’s development journey in the coming years.
