Odisha Police SPO Recruitment 2026: 188 Posts for Retired Personnel — Apply Offline Before 15 October
Odisha Police has opened a re-employment drive for its retired personnel. Two police ranges — South Western Range (Koraput) and Western Range (Rourkela) — are together recruiting 188 Special Police Officers (SPOs) on a contractual basis, and only retired Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors of Odisha Police can apply.
The South Western Range has announced 113 posts across six districts, while the Western Range has announced 75 posts. In both cases the last date to submit the offline application is 15 October 2026. If you retired from Odisha Police and meet the conditions below, this is a one-year contractual re-engagement with uniform, badge and remuneration as per Finance Department guidelines.

The Western Range (Rourkela) has announced 75 SPO posts separately. Applications for that range go to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Rourkela.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector, Sub-Inspector or Inspector of Odisha Police.
- Permanent resident of Odisha.
- Not more than 65 years of age as on the date of publication of the advertisement.
- Must be able to speak, read and write Odia.
- Unblemished service record — no pending criminal case and no criminal conviction.
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates go through four stages:
- Verification of original documents
- Medical examination
- Physical test
- Personal interview
For the South Western Range, the selection test is scheduled at the Reserve Police Ground, Koraput at 6:30 AM on 28 October 2026. In the physical test, candidates have to cover 5 km on foot within one hour — failing to finish in time means disqualification.

Download the application form attached with the official advertisement, fill it carefully, attach self-attested copies of the required documents (retirement proof, age proof, residence proof, service record), and send it to the DIG office of the range you are applying for:
